  12. These QuickTime for Windows components supports Indeo Video Release 3.2
  13. and Intel Raw Video Release 1.1 under QuickTime for Windows 2.0.

  16. Using the Indeo R3.2 QuickTime for Windows Component
  17. ----------------------------------------------------
  18. This decompressor can play back Indeo Video R3.1 and R3.2 videos
  19. converted to  .MOV format from .AVI format using Intel's SmartCap
  20. utility.  It can  also play back movies created on the Macintosh using
  21. the Indeo Video Release  R3.1 and R3.2 codecs.  Videos created on the
  22. Macintosh must be saved as  "Single Fork" files and "Self Contained"
  23. before they can be played under QuickTime for Windows.  Features of this
  24. update include:

  26. * decompresses videos with sizes from 16x16 to 640x480. 
  27. * supports color depths of 8, 16, and 24 
  28. * supports the fast display modes "Hardware" and "Driver" for normal and 
  29.   2x-Zoom playback. 
  30. * supports arbitrarily stretched and odd dimensioned videos using the "RAW" 
  31.   display mode.
  32. * recognizes when the "Indeo Palette" is used and supports the fast 8-bit
  33.   Indeo CLUT color converter.

  36. Using the Intel Raw Video QuickTime for Windows Component

  38. This decompressor can play back Intel Raw videos converted to ".MOV"
  39. format from ".AVI" format using Intel's SmartCap utility.  It can 
  40. also play back movies created on the Macintosh using the Intel Raw Video

  52. Display Modes:

  54. QuickTime for Windows has three display modes that all decompressors
  55. support: "RAW", "Driver", and "Hardware".  "RAW" is the slowest and most
  56. general  method.  It is used when stretching to odd sizes.  The
  57. "Hardware" display mode is the fastest mode because the decompressor
  58. writes directly to the  "Hardware".  In color depth 16 "Hardware" and
  59. "Driver" are supported for bit packings 5/5/5 and 5/6/5.  They are not
  60. supported for either 6/6/4 or 6/5/5.

  62. QuickTime for Windows allows the user to request a display mode. If the
  63. requested mode is supported it is used. Otherwise, the next fastest mode
  64. that is supported is used. Hardware is the default display mode. To
  65. change the default, modify the QTW.INI file. Change (or add) the Optimize
  66. definition in the [Video] section. In the following example Optimize is
  67. set to Driver:

  72. If QuickTime for Windows is having trouble working with your video card
  73. you may want to request that it use the "Driver" output mode.

  120. tuning of your computer's resources may be required.
